An Open Forum on ‘Conservation of Built Heritage in Old Dhaka: Challenges and Opportunities’ was held on Saturday, 7 December 2019 at the IAB Centre to create a common platform for multidisciplinary professionals (e.g Architects, Planners, Archaeologists, Historians, conservation experts, etc.), policymakers, academics, local stakeholders, and representatives of local and international organizations to find a way forward to promote and conserve the built heritage of Old Dhaka through open discussion, dialogue and exchange of opinion. The Open Forum was a part of the ‘Open Heritage Week 2019’ which is an event by the European National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), Alliance Française de Dhaka, British Council Bangladesh, Goethe-Institut Bangladesh, EU Delegation, Embassy of Spain, Dhaka South City Corporation, Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts and Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) to promote the cultural heritage of Bangladesh.Assoc. Prof. Mohammad Sazzad Hossain, in his closing speech, summarized the overall discussion.

Assoc. Prof.  Hossain who is also the Secretary Heritage and Culture of IAB coordinated the program and represented IAB in organizing the Open Heritage Week.
